Saronsberg Wine Cellar, Tulbach

Welcome to Saronsberg, the place we fell in love with the moment we saw it, and where we’ll be saying I do.

Surrounded by rolling vineyards and bathed in golden light, this breathtaking wine farm promises an unforgettable experience for everyone who joins us.

The area

Set at the foot of the Witzenberg and Obiqua Mountains, Saronsberg is a working wine farm in the heart of Tulbagh. It’s everything we were looking for: dramatic views, wide open spaces, incredible wine, and that magical feeling you can’t quite put into words. We knew this was the one from the very first visit.

The land dates back to the 1700s, with deep roots in the valley’s winemaking tradition. After the 2002 earthquake, the estate was rebuilt  and today, it’s known not just for its award-winning wines but for its iconic art collection. You’ll find sculptures scattered across the lawns, a tasting room that makes you want to cancel your plans, and a peaceful energy that’s hard to describe until you’re there.

Turn our wedding into your getaway

We’d love for this to be more than just a wedding. Make it a little getaway.

Start with a wine tasting at Saronsberg (trust us), or explore one of the many trails around the valley. Whether you're into hiking, mountain biking, birdwatching, or just soaking up a view in total peace and quiet, there’s something for everyone.

And just in case the weekend calls for it, don’t forget to pack a hat, sunblock, and a costume. You never know when a sunny moment might turn into a spontaneous swim or a lazy lounge in the sun.

If you’re keen to plan a bit more, we’ve got you covered. The Tulbagh tourism website and Visit Tulbagh app are full of ideas, hidden gems, and up-to-date info to help you make the most of your time in the valley.

Getting there

Saronsberg is around a 90-minute drive from Cape Town International Airport. If you’re flying in, we definitely recommend renting a car; it’s the easiest way to get to Tulbagh and gives you the freedom to explore once you're there.

Uber is technically possible, but it’s not very budget-friendly. A rental gives you better flexibility (and control over the playlist).

Once you’re in Tulbagh, everything’s within reach. The town is small, charming, and easy to navigate— no stress, no traffic, just fresh air and mountain views.

About the venue

Saronsberg isn’t just beautiful; it’s thoughtfully curated, inside and out.

The artworks and sculptures around the estate are part of a private collection, and we’ve been asked (and fully agree) to treat them with care and respect.

While we want you to have the time of your life, we kindly ask that you resist the urge to touch, move, or lean on any artwork or sculptures. As much as we trust our people, we do need to say it plainly: if anything is damaged, we’ll be held personally responsible.

Let’s keep it fun, fabulous, and accident-free, so we can all enjoy the beauty of the venue without worry!
